  • Were all '55 C/K Regals two tone?

Other than repainted cars like mine I have not found any pics of a '55 Coupe with Regal trim with a single color paint job? Did they exist? All I see are two and three tone paint schemes.

I have been mulling over paint schemes for mine and the thought crossed my mind to ditch the roof chrome for the two tone and paint it one solid color, probably Cascade Green. I'd like to see pics of some with factory single color paint without the dividing chrome under the back window and Regal trim.

    To answer your question: No.
However, two-toning was so popular in the mid-1950s that monotone Regals are rare.
The first-series 1955 brochure has a solid yellow Regal hardtop shown in two photos, but you can't tell which series (Champion, Commander, President) it is. BP

My first car, a 1955 Champion Regal Coupe, is yellow. I still have it.

One of the advertisements I have seen was a President Regal Coupe, also in yellow.

In the Salesman's material, there are pictures of solid colour Regals, but many colour combinations were added later, especially two tones.

They certainly were available in solid colors. In fact, I remember my first sighting of a brand new '55 Studebaker. It was a black President hardtop. I was on my way to school, and when I got there I called the old man and told him I had seen it and didn't like the front end look. He had already been over to our local dealer and seen them. He said he didn't like it either. A few months later our Coral over Ivory '53 Champion K was traded on a new '55 Pima Red over Tilden Grey Champion C.
Besides the pure popularity of two-tones at that time, Studebaker offered them at NO EXTRA COST on hardtops and on President State sedans. That move may have a lot to do with why we see so many two-tones now.

Thanks all, I've found plenty of pics of single color 55's without the Regal trim but only one with and it was heavily modified and modernized. I'm hopingf to find one closer to original or at least late 50's/early 60's period correct.

In 1955, I worked for a guy that had a new 1955 President hardtop in black. He could have afforded a Speedster, but didn't like all of the extra stuff/flash. I think that his 1955 President or my uncle's new 1955 Buick Century hardtop was the first car that I went 100 mph in.

My current 55K regal is solid black and that was the factory colour according to the production order. My last 55C regal was also satin black. I posted a picture a couple of months ago, but haven't had a chance to post more.
