  • A few tricks from the machine shop

When I had the motor out of the Avanti for a freshen up I had the machine shop bevel cut the exhaust flange on the header and the header pipe to be able to run the doughnut gaskets. This has solved all my exhaust problems and makes it so much easier to bolt up, this type of gasket is very forgiving if things do not line up perfect which is the usual case on exhaust systems. It should only cost a couple of hours of machine shop time. I highly recommend this modification to any one doing a rebuild.

Great idea, I did mine at home with a hand held grinder, do you have a pn for the donut? I thought it would work
to use the flange for a retainer and flare the end of the head pipe. What did you have for an inside diameter for
      the header exhaust?
