When switch is turned on the wipers activate but with no two speed contol only fast and no proper parking when turned off. The parking switch looks ok. Is this likely a dash switch problem or a parking switch problem in the motor? Comments welcome.

Take the switch apart and clean it with TV tuner cleaner. Watch out for the little springs, they fit into wells, don't let them "jump out" Gently remove the back keeping pressure on it untill you feel the springs have expanded all the way. The shop manual provides instructions on making the adjustment(s) to properly park the blades

Is the problem a sudden occurance or has the problem been there for a while? It's posible that the switch is bad or the park contact in the motor is defective, but it's also possible that the switch is miswired causing your problem. I was having all sorts of electrical problems with my Avanti until I found that someone in the past had removed the ignition switch and had mis wired it. Bud

If you disassemble the switch, do so in a fair sized plastic bag, so when the springs go into orbit, you can find them back.

The switch must be grounded to park properly. Try running a separate ground to the switch body. I use a large washer and star washer on the backside of the dash thru which the switch stem passes, and solder a ground wire to the washer. Run the wire to a ground point on the dash metal cross-member.
