    1. 0756-24 at the top end of the shaft-Since the 0756-23 PIN is threaded and cannot move, so what is the purpose of the spring being at the end of it?

    2. 1305-14 just below the large nut that holds the steering wheel on does not seem to have a purpose either, can someone tell me why it is there?

    We need year, model, etc.
    Through osmosis, I take it you are talking about a 1950 Champion, but that is just a swag...
    Better description will bring a better answer.
