Any info on using a newer 4 barrel carb on a stude v8?

I'm using the later model 9600 series Carter AFB's on my 62 Hawk and my 63 Avanti. The Carter's aren't generally available, but the Edelbrock AFB is basically the same carburetor and is readily available. They will bolt right on to the Studebaker AFB manifold, but the lower edge of the linkage on the left side has to be removed to clear the manifold or a spacer can be used if there is enough hood clearance. The Edelbrock carb has an electric choke and a jet kit is available if you want to change the fuel mixture either for better mileage or more power. Bud

I am using an Edelbrock 500 cfm on my GT, with 289. Works great. Using a Jegs spacer(alternating fiber, and aluminum) to raise the carb up, so the butterflys don't hit the intake manifold. Be sure to hook the electric choke to the overdrive solenoid kickdown wire in the wiring harness. If you hook it to the coil, you could affect engine performance. Also, bend or remove the choke tubes as they will interfere with the linkage on that side. Just a few thoughts.
