  • '51 Hood release cable

Hello everyone. Just picked up my new '51 Champion fron Fort Worth, Texas and brought it back to Illinois. It runs, but is in great need of a complete rehab. Pics to follow soon. I opened the hood to get the thing started for the first time in years and broke the cable right at the latch. Does anyone have any ideas on where a new hood release cable can be purchased? I looked back through the forums and found many instances of a broken cable, but I did not see where to get another one. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Those are pretty scarce. I picked one up from Stephen Cade at York a few years ago. Might have been the last one he had.

You might be able to fabricate a new one with a little imagination. Look for the cable in bulk, maybe Mc Master -Carr or MSC Industrial or even a small engine repair shop. I'm sure someone out here in Studeland has run into this before. Good Luck

        Just a thought.
Call Tom Karkiewicz @ 574-287-5834 in the evening.
Tom has been collecting Stude parts for years and might have one.
        Or Barry @281-821-5534

Before you drive yourself nuts, give Studebaker Int'l a call. I seem to remember a friend of mine, who owns a '51 StarLight coupe, bought a cable from SASCO. It's possible that Ed Reynolds may have acquired that item when he bought the stock of SASCO. Just a thought.
              Good luck.
