Looking for mechanic for a 2R10

All work and no play make for a lonely Studebaker 2R10. I'm looking for a mechanic in the Denver/Boulder are of Colorado if anyone knows of one to do some minor repairs on my 50 2R10. Six cylinder in pretty good shape.

The 2R10 was a 3/4 ton pickup manufactured between 1949 and 1953 that had the Champion 169 CID motor and came on a 122" WB. While most were pickups, they were also sold as cab and chassis units. No dual wheels, though they had 8 bolt rims. After the introduction of the R series trucks, the 2R11 was built that had the 245 CID Commander motor. Coupled with a OD transmission, it was probably the fastest pickup of its day.

All the 2R's 2r10/11's Ive seen have the big 5 lug 2piece wheels.
I didnt think the 8 bolt wheels were available until the Dana 60 was adopted in 1956 for 3/4 tons

I would be interested in hearing more about this. Anybody else have any comments? I'm trying to keep this truck original but maybe not if it has already been customized.

You may be interested in seeing/printing this 1950 Studebaker truck brochure, if you don't already have one. It has lots of specifications in the back pages. I don't know why, but reading that stuff always fascinates me.

You may be right on the lugs, but unfortunately the '52 2R10 that I have is 30 miles from home so it is hard to run out and check! I do know they have an offset 2 piece rim, perhaps a Kelsey Hayes?

Guess I'm just fortunate to have my parts trucks close at hand.
Also have Rick Courtiers trucks original rear axle and front brakes in the tractor shed to look at.(Also have the rims from his truck)

The wheels for the 56 are Firestones , dont know about the 52, Similiar wheels on my 60 1 ton are Firestone, I know my larger trucks have Motorwheel wheels.

What kind of work/repairs do you need? I am in Colorado. I am not a "mechanic', just a guy that started working on Stude trucks in 1954. Do you have a parts manual yet? If not you must do so. I just got a 2R parts and repair manual on CD from www.ClassicManuals.net in Larkspur, CO. It covers 1949 thru 1954, with a little on the 1955 E7 and E12's. It is far better than the weak-print reprint manuals.

Are you sure the overdrive is an R10, or is in R11? They are not interchangeable.

Ah... while R10 IS a Wagner overdrive unit designation, it has nothing to do with the Studebaker 2R10 or 2R11 designations.

Sorry that I am not as perfect as some people. I thought he said he had an overdrive in his 2R10 truck, and I was wrong. He hasn't yet said what engine or transmission is in his truck. I probably got confused by a similar posting in the other, somewhat less picky, Studebaker truck forum.

If you can allow a little indulgence to me, I did provide an offer of help to him and a good source for more information to all. The R10-R11 question specifically referred to the overdrive units, not the truck model numbers. I agree that to a newbie my question could be confusing, so I should not have mentioned it. Is slitting my wrists sufficient?
