Hey y'all. Just got my entire brack system rebuilt/replaced. Now the Daytona not only runs great... it stops great too! On to the next item of repair: My top no longer goes up and/or down. :-(
I went through the troubleshooting steps in my shop manual and determined that the problem is in the motor (located in the trunk). It does nothing via the switch (but the switch checked out okay), but when I touch a hot lead directly from the battery to either of the two leads to the motor it clicks... like it's stuck. The car has been sitting for a while in varying (indoor) atmospheric conditions, so I'm really hoping I might be able to knock it apart, clean it up, reassemble and reinstall it, and be back in business.
The book seems pretty clear on the steps to do this, but I always like to check with you guys first to see if you have any shadetree tips for me.
IF I have to replace the motor, I imagine they are hard to find and a bit pricey. Haven't looked yet though.
Any helpful tips?? Thanks, as always.
