I removed the old parts from the MC and cleaned and honed the unit. When I opened the recently purchase repair kit, I found that some of the parts did not look the same. Now I am unsure how to proceed. I am hoping someone else found them selves in this position and have the answers.
I am going to attempt to place some images here which might help explain my problem.
Old Rubber Gasket, Valve, and Spring.

Old Rubber Gasket on end of Valve

Old Valve on End of Spring.

New Valve and Spring Assembled

New Valve and Spring Round end Up

New Valve and Spring Hollow end UP

New Valve, Rubber Gasket, and Spring

For the old parts, the last item out (first item in) was the rubber gasket with the counter bore on both sides. The spring had the valve attached via two small tabs to the spring and was inserted round side down.
The new valve and rubber look different. First the rubber gasket is flat on both sides. The new valve has a rubber insert inside it and is made from two stamping (the old one was made from a single stamping). It has no tabs to attach it to the spring and looks like the round end should fit into the end of the spring. However, this would not agree with the old part assemble. The repair book does not even mention the these rubber gaskets and the picture of the valve in the repair manual is even different then either of the valves I have.
[?]Does this new valve go in against the rubber gasket flat side down is I have shown it assembles?

Jerry Johnson
