    Does anyone know if a more advanced/later model Studie Tranny can be installed in a 1956 Sky Hawk with the 289?

      A '58 to 1964 Flight-O-Matic should be pretty much the same as what you have, unless it's one of those VERY EARLY '56's with a Low gear start.

      The only difference is, they do not fit without doing something about their long tail that requires a ONE PIECE slip yoke driveshaft.

      Usually properly fixing your's should make it quite good, a properly adjusted and working Borg Warner cast iron case Automatic is a very good Trans. [^]

          It's the 3-speed automatic withthe second gear start.
