I put a group 51 battery in my Avanti a few years ago ( based on the experiences of a few of our local chapter members). I had to fashion a new hold-down, but it all fits well. I'm actually working on an improved aluminum hold-down bracket in my welding class! I'll post pix when I've got that looking ok.

Post a few pics of it and make a few extra hold down brackets to sell.

    Thanks,

    James

I second the motion pictures plus make a few extra hold downs and who knows maybe you will find a market for them ....

        HI John

Lenny Matt posted these for you so I copied over to this post so others could see your set up using the Group 51 size (Honda) battery versus the 3EE battery. The addition of the radiator overflow bottle using the extra space is a nice touch.

All you really need to know is the battery group size which is a group 51. But if your curious about which Honda tell the parts guy a 1989 to 1995 Honda Civic with 1.5L 4 cylinder engine.

Most FLAPS will have in stock or able to order a group 51 maintenance free battery in most popular major brands. If not in stock at Wal-mart you can probably have them order a EverStart brand group 51.

If you do don't mind paying $169 for a battery you can even get an Optima AGM yellow top battery in a group 51 size.
