    need an answer to how do i reset the bearing preload after replacing the rear seal on a 59 lark 6.also how much torque should be required to move the completed job with a beam type torque wrench.i haven't done this job in many years and would appreciate the help...thank you ..bill m.

    For a dana 44, you change the pre-load with shims. The torque should be between 10-20 INCH pounds NOT foot pounds. I assume it is similar for the lighter axle you have.

      welcome dollar bill
      I think bill is talking about about the oil seal on the pinion shaft, correct torque is 150 pounds.
      64 is talking about per loading the bearings on the carrier.

        If you didn't change anything other than the seal you shouldn't need to reset pre-load on the pinion bearing. Just put the yoke back and torque the nut to 150 lbs.
