"Anybody have any corrosion problems with batteries such as the Delco Freedom, Optima, etc.?"
I have a 6 volt Optima and a sealed 12 volt, one in each car, no problems with corrosion on either one. I went to an Optima because there seems to be no other sealed 6 volt batteries. The battery I had spent 4 months in the winter spitting bubbles of acid all over my engine and steeing gear.

"This one confuses me. Current drain to where?" Across the top of the battery from one post to the other. It is possible to have a
contaminant of sort(i.e. dust) that will allow a battery to slowly discharge if at rest for a period of time. I believe this came this from
high school auto mechanics. As to the validity, decide for yourself.
Read this article. It gives yet another reason against chassis grease.
