strange screws on factory mirrors ?????

What is the tool called to undo the two screws on the factory mirrors on a '47 ?? The screws are the theft proof type and where does one buy a screwdriver to fit? The screws are "missing" one fourth of their top on each side of the slot.......Brad

That sounds like one of those theft-proof kind of screws used on public bathroom fixtures. Certainly not factory screws. Though it may be a factory mirror, that was 60 years ago! Try to drill them out and use an easy-out to remove and discard them.

Golly, Brad, I don't think Stude used theft-proof screws on any of their accessories. Might have been done by some prior owner?

Maybe you could talk to the nice folks who make a living stealing fixtures from public washrooms.[}]

Honestly, if it were me, I'd drill them out.

Back in 1947 people didn't steal rear view mirrors. Standard phillips oval head would be correct. You've been screwed.

I actually know the answer to this one... those are the fasteners used to bind together pages in a semi-permanent manner, e.g. a shop manual. Actually I ought to buy some because I bought an Avanti parts book on eBay and it came with a "Lark" embossed hard cover, but the binding hardware is too short.
