  • Tremac 5 speed trans

Has anyone attempted to fit a Tremac 5 speed trans into an Avanti?

    Can this be done?

Don't know how you missed this over the past, but it's one of the best tech threads EVER. It's with all the other tech tips from the Home page:

      Bob,

The reason I asked is because I recently saw a u-tube video at Jay Leno's garage.....he purchased a 1970 Hemi Challenger and had his guys fit a new Tremac....this is 13 minutes of sheer bliss for any gear head!!!

putting one behind his R2 Avanti. Did he get hold of you Dan?

Here are some videos of my TKO Avanti, doesnt have the money put into
it that Leno has, but it still is fun.

Check out Bob Johnstone's web site and his Tech pages. Here's a link to his 5 speed information. It also includes an Excel spreadsheet that you can download to help you calculate engine RPM with a 5 speed for various rear end ratios.

              Tom,

Is there a possibility of you putting together the specific parts to do this conversion, so the rest of us will not have to re-invent the wheel?

My Avanti has factory T-10 trans with 3:54 rear end.

Did you bother to go to the link and read the thread? ALL the parts
are listed there, where I got them from, measurements and such. It is
also a feature article in the current Avanti Magazine. I am not sure
there is any 'wheel' left to 're-invent'. It's pretty darn thorough.
