Speaking of the nail head or tit as it were.....I purchased a set of ss sleeved pistons from a famous vendor we all know.....I soon discovered that one of my front wheels was draging....long story short.....took entire caliper apart and found that the nail head or tit was mushroomed down so that the back of the pad never released from the rotor.....I corrected the situation but this pissed me off because the vendor should have checked and known better.

When you insert the pads into the caliper, make certain that the "nail head" protrusion on the piston goes into the slot in the metal backing of the pad. Check that this is a snug fit, so that the pad is held tightly to the piston. It may take a little bending of the metal backing to get it tight. This, in addition to making sure that the retainer clip on top is tight, will help reduce pad vibration and noise.
