  • cigar lighter fuse?or relay?

I am looking for a fuse? that screws onto the end of the cigar lighter housing. Then + wire attaches to the end of fuse? I have seen these on Studebakers, fords, plymouths around 1960-1970's. Are they still being made? If so, where?
    thanks

What you are looking for is a small maybe 1/2" Dia. Hexagon nut shaped fuse that has a male end and a female threaded end to screw onto the back of the Casco Lighter.
Maybe they are still around and have these.

      Roland,

I bought an NOS lighter assembly off of Tom Kurkowitz at the Reedsville Swap meet. I know he has more hanging from a parts tree in his parts bus. You can email me off the forum and I will give you his phone number and address in South Bend. The whole assembly was cheap.

There is a sleeve screwed onto the back. hold the insides and unscrew this sleeve. The threads are not perfect, it might be stiff.

              Brian,

Hold the cigar lighter case at the back from under the dash, from the front stick your thumb in the cigar lighter and unscrew the inner chrome sleeve. Sometimes they are not easy to take them apart due to the slight thread on the inner sleeve.

Thanks. Studerich mentioned that the hot wire screws on to a fuseable link. it is a Casco unit,my meter indicates open,so i guess there is no repairing that. To bad, all the parts are quite new-like. Gotta wonder why it failed. i guess i'll track down another. Thanks for the info.
