working on a 55 Prez that needs wiring help. Has anyone rewired a 6v system and converted it to 12v? Not sure where to start, but the complete harness needs to be changed out. Any suggestions would be a great help. I have changed several C2 Corvettes but there is a huge difference.

Are you sure you need to replace the complete wiring harness? Studebaker International offers a 12V conversion kit that my make it easier. It includes everything you need. The part number is 802464. Call them for information and pricing. Their telephone number is 317-462-3124.Ed Sallia

I've completely rewired three trucks and a boat that were 6 volt/Pos to 12 volt/neg. I ALWAYS run my own wiring as I find that easier to all new accessories or improve features (such as converting to a one wire alternator instead of a generator and regulator).
Your 12 volt wires do not need to be as heavy. and you can choose stronger or different types of connectors if they work better. I always make a power point drawing of my wire routing and colors as I go (I've attached an EXAMPLE). It has come in very helpful at times when. troubleshooting.Comment
