53 Commander. 6 volt positive ground. I need to rebuild my wiper motor and maybe also relace the wiper switch. Unfortunately, my Ammeter is showing discharge when I turn the ignition key to start the car and while the car is running and only gets back to normal (middle position) when I turn off the ignition. So that I can at least drive my car, my thought is to unplug the wiper motor wires from/to the switch; to then replace the wiper motor with a working unit; and to then replace the wiper switch itself. I have a NOS replacement switch and a working used replacement wiper motor. I plan on doing the work in a month or so but, in the meantime, I don't want a constant drain on the battery. So does this make sense? Also, what letter terminals on the switch connect to the different color wires? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. Al.

Just disconnect the wire on the Switch terminal marked B or Batt, tape it up, and there will be no power to either of these culprits.
The 1953 or '55 wiring diagram on the StudebakerParts.com website will show the proper color wire, usually Black or Red.
But it is easy to use a test light on the switch terminals with key momentarily On, to find out.
Then you can test them and find out which, probably the switch, if you can't shut it off.StudeRich

When a wiper motor is running there is power to the motor, when switched off the power is redirected to the park position and there is still power to the motor terminal, as the motor continues to turn in the park mode it will eventually open the terminal, however there is still power to the park terminal when the switch is off.
