Speedo / Tach / Gauges: Speedo cable compatibility

I have a 57 Golden Hawk that somebody replaced the transmission with a 4-speed manual from a 61 or 62 GT Hawk. So, the original speedo cable end does not work with the replacement transmission. My question is, can I use a cable from a 61 or 62 4-speed car and get my speedo working? Or, is the gear on the end replaceable on the 57 original cable? Any help is greatly appreciated...

If you compare the '61 and up 4 speed Cable in the Parts Catalog, to the '56 to '60 or 3 Speed you will find that the cables are different to match the 4 Speed Pinion Gear, Drive Gear and Transmission.
It is Chev. Style, not Stude.

Thanks for the info... But I guess the question I should have asked is, will that cable work correctly with the 57 speedo?

Sure, all SW Speedometers (which is all Stude. Speedo's.) have the standard square drive, so all cables fit.
