  • Electrical: 6 volt light bulbs

I'm having trouble trying to find replacement number bulbs for my 1949 Champion with its original bulbs. The one on the outboard tail/stoplight has the number 1128 and is single filament while the inboard bulb has no readable number but is dual. The owners manual calls for 1158 for the single filament turn signal bulb and 1129 for the dual. I'm looking to upgrade both bulbs on each side to LED for additional brightness but the system itself has changed and I'm not sure what to do. I have a Sudebaker International catalog but their numbers don't cross-reference to the older numbers and I'm up the creek unless these guys really know their stuff if all I'm down to is the model of my car. Is there some simple way to go? Tony

Here are your Parking/Turn, Tail, Stop or Turn light bulbs at $1.49 ea.
6 Volt Dual contact ARE # 1158 with EVEN locating pins for 1950 and older Cars.

Their # 1680X should work for Tail lights or Turn with Single Contacts.

1951 to '55 use the 1154 Dual Filament 6 Volt Bulbs with Staggered pins, like the 12 Volt Bulbs.

6 Volt License Lights get a # 63 single filament.
The 6 Volt Dome Light Bulb is # 88, Dual Contact, Single Filament.

You can Clean your wire contacts, Tail Light Bases and Lenses to improve the Incandescent bulb brightness.
Also check your generator output voltage.
