  • Oil Pressure plug in Distributer Housing

I have my '63 289 V8 engine torn down in my garage in order to refresh it (new rings, rod bearings, etc.) Anyway, I have read many times about making sure the oil passage plug is in the distributer hole - supposedly, you can see it when looking down the distributer hole.
Anyway, I don't see it - I haven't removed any of the oil passage plugs, and this engine always had good oil pressure, so I guess I don't know what I am looking for [?]
I thought at one time there was a picture posted on the forum, but using the search tool, I can not locate it...does anyone have a picture, or can they describe what I should be looking for?

    Thanks,

Looking at the back of the engine, it is on the left side of the cam about 1 1/2" inches behind the 1.25" freeze plug. Looking down the dist. hole it is on the drivers side. It is a 1/4" taper pipe plug.

The only way I have ever seen the oil gallery plug in the Distributor "tower" is from the rear of the engine, after removing the "core plug" it sits behind.

Maybe one of those little mechanics mirrors on a wand would reveal the plug?
