  • Brakes: Brakes 1950 Champion convertible

I have replaced all of the brake lines. Went to start bleeding them today. All of the bleeding valves loosened up except one, and that one broke off! I took the cylinder off the wheel hub thinking I could work the bleeder out. I couldn't. I tried to take the cylinder apart, and it is frozen solid. So, I found a cylinder on Rockauto for the rear wheels and ordered a couple thinking the other side is most likely bad also. They did not have any for the front wheels, and I am thinking I should get those also. I know the id is 1" on those and 7/8" on the back wheels. Need a part number for the front wheel cylinder.

I have also changed the single chamber master cylinder to dual via Turner. I have installed the proportioning valve in the system. Question - would the cylinders that a made for the back wheels also work on the front, or would I be losing too much braking power? I'm thinking that since one cylinder is bad they probably all are.

A little bit off the current question - I installed the remote filler bottle, and I am really considering removing it. The master cylinder is not designed to be absolutely full. So, consequently the master cylinder weeps out of the top seal, until it gets down to a level below the top of the master. I am thinking the easiest fix would be to remove the bottle and put a larger door in the floor about the master cylinder. What do you all think?

On the Master Cylinder leak, all you need is a better Gasket, the originally Vented Cap should have been replaced with one that has NO Vent with a Line Fitting to the Reservoir that should Not leak.
