  • Transmission / Overdrive: Help needed! 62 hawk 4 speed conversion

Hello everyone. I’m a new member. I’m 24, tackling a vs-57 supercharged hawk project. Very clean and straight car but originally came with a 3spd column and converted to 4 speed. It functioned but I want a stock 4 speed configuration. Has a Studebaker t10 in it anda hurst competition shifter. I finally found an original clutch bell pivot bracket. But It doesn’t fit and I’m wondering what other pieces of the puzzle I need! The short armature from end of the clutch shaft to bell housing I have a hunch is 4 speed specific. Mine looks different. The clutch shaft itself also looks different than mine. I believe mine still has the 3 spd components which prevent everything from working right. Are these two parts the only 4 speed things left I need to make this clutch work correct? Anyone know where I can find them? Tried Barry at Studebaker site and Russ at Studebaker parts but haven’t heard back yet. Thanks for any info and for reading my post!

Hi you are right some parts are 4 spd only parts , If you dont have a parts book get one for 62 and newer Hawks , 30 years ago I did the same conversion on 1955 Coupe and I had to fabricate some clutch parts , Ed

Welcome Noah to the SDC, and to the SDC Forum !

So did you source a '57 Golden Hawk 289 Engine setup with the 2 Barrel Carb, Pressure Box, Supercharger Brackets and McCulloch VS57 for your '62 GT ?

Thanks stude rich. Full 57 golden hawk configuration blowing through a modified 4bl edelbrock carb. Do you know who might have these 4 speed specific parts around?

Sorry, I have some T-10's, but not the parts to install.
