Chris .......... would you please add '63 Avanti to the list. The wiring for '64 Avanti's may very well be identical, but I do not know, if that is the case. Others on this Forum will know.
    Thanks
    John

Me too, please. I have two Avantis to which I would like to add power windows. I need the wiring diagram for that circuit. Even if you can't I would like to thank you for the public service you have already performed.

Regarding Avantis, I have a '63-64 diagram to work from but it's a mess and will take a bit of time to sort out. I also have several power window diagrams so I'll have to compare and see if they're all the same - if not and if I can't determine which is correct I'll probably just do them each as separate sheets and let everyone else figure out which one they need. Due to the complexity of the Avanti wiring system, because I'll have to draw most of the base components from scratch, and because there are others ahead of you in line it'll likely be a few weeks before you see anything.

If anyone ever comes looking for Avanti II diagrams: whoever you lost souls may be, you're going to have to help me figure out which of the myriad hand-drawn subsections apply to which versions of the car and then wait for me to get everything laid out in a way that makes sense. I haven't yet seen a monolithic diagram for those cars that I can work from so I'll have to assemble one from scratch. It's not going to be quick or easy for any of us, so prepare yourself for that, but I'll do my part because it needs to be done someday.

Also added one for the 1966 VW Beetle that I did for a friend. Here, if anyone cares:

I'll start working on the requests tonight.

I have a question for you, I looked at some of these really nicely done diagrams, but what can't figure out is; when you do each System separately, I guess to lesion the Clutter of the Complete Car Diagram, you include some other not used systems also in Color like the intended ones.

So I think that clutters up and complicates the Desired System Wires that each is supposed to help with, because they BOTH stand out being in Color.

Sorry, I should have mentioned some examples.
          '64 Lark
          Starter System
          Ignition System
          Running Lights
          Brake Lights
          Turn Signals
          Wipers
          Heater
          Horn Overdrive

All have extra wires like: the Door grounding Circuit Switches for Dome Lights, Overdrive Switch, etc. etc. ALL in Red.

Yeah, I didn't have much of a plan when I started doing this and I'm actually going to re-do some of the earlier ones like that. Each basic system is done as a separate layer in a vector graphics program, but to show the whole circuit from beginning to end you either need to duplicate a bunch of main power and accessory power wires just turn on the whole main and accessory power layers. That's what I was doing to save myself a lot of work, but after a few diagrams like that I decided it sucked and started just copying and pasting the specific power wires I needed into each subsystem layer. It's a bunch more work but a much cleaner result. And before you have a chance to wonder - for circuits which pull their power from a splice in the middle of a wire which powers other things, I'm leaving both ends of the supply wire intact. Since I don't know exactly where the splice happens on the car it'll be useful to know what both ends of the supply wire do, even if they connect to unrelated components. If you look at some of my recent additions you'll get an idea of my current thinking, and if you have any other thoughts I'd like to hear them. Once I get done with all the Stude stuff I can find references for I'll go back through and de-stupid my earlier work.

I've colorized a few motorcycle diagrams many years ago, but I never thought to do anything multi-layer like these until I did the one for my Silver Hawk last year. The sixteen I've posted so far are the only ones I've ever done. I'm not a professional, I'm just some random guy who got irritated at the lack of good reference material so I'm figuring it out as I go.

Man I wish we could edit comments.

If one wants a much cleaner and user friendly version of the Studebaker wiring, then obtain an old Mitchell schematic representation of the aforementioned....................Mitchell was known for their superior layouts.

One example, Mitchell actually shows the two different starter motors that Avanti and R series cars had.

For arts54LC. I'm not a fan of how the original was drawn with optional circuits on a second page, but I quickly found that integrating them into the base diagram would require redoing the entire thing from scratch - there just isn't enough room to route all the wires as it is. Practicality won and the optional circuits are on the last page of the pdf. I may revisit the idea of a monolithic diagram in the future, but it probably won't be soon. Hope this makes working on the Land Cruiser easier.

they were very very helpful and much easier to trace when you separated them

For creegster. Sorry it took a while - between replacing my furnace and priming a motorcycle I've been lacking free time, but all has returned to normal. Starting on the Avanti diagram tonight.

For JLB and Dwight FitzSimons. I integrated the most complete power window circuit diagram that I could find so that should help everyone out. Due to the nature of wiring systems in fiberglass cars I created a separate sheet for all of the ground wires - I thought it might be nice to see the whole layout when hunting downstream problems. I also chose to depict only the upstream power wires on subsystem sheets and not transfer the relevant ground wires since doing so would get overly messy. Because of that, individual subsystem sheets may not show an explicit path-to-ground. It's not ideal but the logic was that, with electrical problems, you either have a power supply problem or a grounding problem and with all of the ground wires on a separate sheet it's easy enough to find all of the information you'd need to solve whichever problem you have. I tried to balance the issue of relevant information with the problem of things getting too visually complicated and this is the best solution I came up with so I hope it works for everyone who needs it.

Chris Thanks for creating all these great wiring diagrams. I will use your 53 champion for my starliner. I could also use one for my 58 Golden Hawk. Thanks again. M5studie
