  • Electrical: What distributor is this?

This distributor is in my 63 Lark Daytona R2. It has been in the car for decades and the car runs fine. I know that the original was dual point. This is single point.

What is this distributor (make, model, part number, etc)? I'd like to get a new cap, rotor and points but don't know what to ask for/locate.

Any help would be appreciated. Click image for larger version

Much easier to alter the mechanical advance than the other distributor, much easier to keep clean and repair.
        Parts are easy to buy.

My '62 GT had a "window " distributor in it when I got it too. Super easy to set dwell and get it spot on! Just use an "allen" wrench thru the window and a dwell meter and dial in the dwell you want. Also probably the easiest point type distributor to get parts for. I replaced mine with the same distributor GM replaced it with in 1975; the HEI.

BTW; GM used the "window" distributor from 1956 thru 1974, not '57. Cadillac and Old's got them in '56. Buick, Pontiac and Chevy had to wait till '57 for them!

You only need the Delco Model Number if you are trying to Order a Pertronixs Electronic Ignition from one of the MANY unknowing suppliers instead of a Studebaker Vendor.

By the way, it's on the aluminum tag on the back side of the Dist. or on the drive shaft housing.

Pertronix Units are Ok for the right person, Dist. or purpose, but it defeats the purpose of the '60-'61 Lark replacement, easy to service Delco "Window' Dist. in your '62. If it Ain't Broke ...

No one has yet mentioned OP still has the original single point distributor. I do not recall any dual point Delcos OEM on Studes. The R-series dual point was a Prestolite.

                It is single point Jack.

I called a parts store and asked for a 1970 Buick Skylark 5.7L 4bbl distributor cap. They have one for $5.00. Will this work? They have the rotor also.

You are safer with a '57 to about '60, Chevrolet 283 or '60/'61 Studebaker Lark 259 Cap and Rotor.

DO NOT take the Low Line $5.00 Parts, get the United or other Premium Line from a NAPA Store.

Right, there were none, but Corvette Parts should be out there for Delco Window Dist's.
As you know though, Higher Performance will come more from a Proper RPM range, Mechanical Advance Curve modified for the desired RPM, not so much the Dual Points.
