  • Speedo / Tach / Gauges: 1962 Hawk: Fuel and Water Temp gauge wiring

    Hello all.

When my 62 Hawk came to me the previous owner had removed the dash and all of the gauges and switches. Nothing was labelled and all the parts were in boxes. I now have the car running but there are no gauges connected other than the ammeter.

I am having trouble connecting up the Fuel gauge and Water Temp gauge. I see that I need to run ignition power to them, ground them via their mounting posts, and attach the sender wires. There are no S or I markings on the cases
and I can't find any reference to the post layouts in the workshop manual or online.

Can someone tell me if the ignition feed goes into the top post or the lower one?
(I guess/hope these are the original gauges as they have faint 'SW' and part numbers printed on the sides.)

    Thanks, Paul

I got these fantastic photos of the back of a ‘64 GT from Mark Plucenik and they helped me enormously. Hope they help you too.

I am assuming that the Car pictured is correct, and think it is, looks Original.

Senders on the Top Terminals and Power from Ign. Sw.on the Bottom, shown in the helpful Photos in Post # 2.

Temp. is on the Left, (Orange Sender Wire); Fuel on the Right, (Red Sender Wire).
From the Car's L & R, from the Dash FRONT.

Thanks Rich, I'll also check my wiring schematic and compare with '64 model. Cheers!
