Double shocks instead of swaybar in the rear of GT

The first link would not work: I had to use the 'IMG' code of a specific web page out of that Photobucket account

That is pretty cool. Does it actually improve rear sway?

Doesn't look like a very good set-up to me.
Shock absorbers and sway bars perform different functions. One does not replace the other. A shock absorber controls vertical motion. A sway bar transfers force from one side of the vehicle to the other. Double shocks may improve handling, but do not do the job of a sway bar.
The only Studebaker that I can recall having dual shocks installed on was a 1956 Golden Hawk stock car racer.

            Mostly what Gary said.

Shock absorbers (or dampers as they should be called) exert forces only when they are moving. They can have an affect on the amount of roll in a transient condition but in a long sweeping turn they will have no impact on the amount of vehicle roll. A swaybar on the other hand increased the spring rate in roll without changing the spring rate in jounce and rebound (the vertical movement).

If the double shocks are helping the handling compared to only one then perhaps you need to find 1 good shock instead of 2 poor shocks.

Anyway get a swaybar and the heavy duty springs all arround if you want to improve handling. Also make sure all of your front and rear bushings are good.
