  • Fuel System: 259 two barrel carburetor options ???

Good day , we have the 1960 Lark with 259 with two barrel intake . Has on it a Stromberg that somebody put on it off a 1965 mopar .This is a very small intake bolt pattern and I am not going to any kind of fuel injection on this old girl . But I love a good two barrel and I was needing some imput from those out there that would know what options I have on this without changing the original intake . Not a show car , just a really great driver and I drive it every day here in Tampa . The Stromberg , is that the only one to fit thgis bolt pattern??The bore size on it now is 1.630 . The bolt pattern now is 3.250 across c/c and 1.870 c/c on the bolt holes for the carb . I want to drive this car to California next spring and want reliability and decent fuel metering . Thanks again . Joe in Tampa .

The Holley tech guy's parents weren't even born when your car was new.

But why look for trouble? Studebaker Strombergs are still thick on the ground and a cinch to rebuild. The only thing to watch for is the throttle shaft being worn in the carb base bore.

So do you have an idea for finding a good Stromberg ww core that will work /// number is 6-0123 Stromberg ,is what the Lark was supposed to be originally . Thanks

Does it still have a PCV Valve and Hose from an Adapter under the Carb. like Calif./New York 1960/'61 located and State Mandated & Modified Cars, or None with a Crankcase Ventilation Draft Tube to the Air like other States?

The reason I ask is the 6-123 has no PCV Fitting, but very similar WW's are available for '62 to '64 Models with a PCV Fitting in the Base at the Rear which would make a cleaner, better setup than a "Modified" one.

All of course Used, to be Rebuilt with current Repair Kits.

There's a Stromberg 6-123 on ebay right now (not mine).

After reading alot of good posts I believe running a good two barrel ww will be great for my old Lark convertible . The carb that is on there now is a combination I think of many different Strombergs so I would love to come to Parrish and pick up a core that will keep this car running right for years to come ! love this forum and its members .Joe

Went through my stash of carbs. I have 4 Stromberg WW. 2 have provisions for PCV. 1 has the choke in different location - no PCV. All fit Stude 2bbl manifold.

FWIW, I also found 2 Carter RBS and 1 Carter AS. 1bbl of course. If anyone has a need ...

The carb used on the early 318 dodge motors fits the 259 small pattern. I bought a new carb off Amazon for 89 bucks. It needed a phenolic spacer to raise it up 1/2 inch for the linkage to clear. It runs like a champ. I rebuilt the original stromberg but still ran crappy.

I have a bone stock original '59 Lark V8 automatic with the original (25,000 mile 2 BBL).
A few weeks ago I had occasion to start it after 2-3 years of dormancy, in order to move it. 2 Pumps and a fresh battery charge and it started right up.
Why would anybody change out that sort of reliability? It is 60+ years old!
                              Good luck with yours.
