Have a great summer enjoying driving your Studebaker!
    Cheers,

    Thank you Bill.
I hope the summer will be a little bit longer, so I can drive the Stude some more days.

This time by the premier transmission re-builder here in America, Chuck Tubens. She now shifts great. You will find your car is a very nice road car. Enjoy. Oh, and thanks for sharing all the photos and information.
Ed, I really like to drive her. The people always turns their heads when I drive through the cities. Studebaker are not very common here in Germany

Nice one indeed! I was just about to drive Josephine Trelleborg - Rostock - Zaandam(NL) a while ago but 2 days before the trip I noticed some vibrations so she had to stay home... Otherwise there would have been one more -55 sedan on german roads for a couple of days.
Here she is, she's a bit rough & naughty & "under construction" thou:

W stands for the Sedan, even when the President officially is a Y ;-)
Y for the Sedan long wheel base
            55 is the year
            H stands for historic cars

So my assumption was mostly correct.
A W body and a Y body (like your car) are different four door sedans. 1955 President sedans are 6H-Y 3,4,5 or 6 depending on early or late series and Deluxe or State.

Yes, you are right . I hoped that a real Studebaker fan recognize the combination of my license plate.
I know the differences between the W Body and the Y Body, I own both

I "lost" my whole front a few days ago, another -55 sedan had braked a wee bit to late & so I don't have to have the front parts laying around for nothing anymore!
It's all described on the Racing Studebakers site...
