Where can I find/buy a replacement filter for the Carter fuel pump that was on my 1962 Lark, V8 259. MO 1530 is stamped on the pump, the number 2 on the other side. I bought a rebuild kit, thought the filter would be included, no. Thanks for any help.

I haven't seen a filter for the older Carter pumps in years. The earlier pumps used a ceramic depth type filter and the later ones used a paper element. If you can find a new ceramic filter, I would think that it would be good to use, not so much with a paper element as those deteriorate over time. Bud

The glass bowl itself is a sediment bowl, designed so that when the fuel enters the big bowl and slows down, the sediment drops to the bottom. Even without the filter element, the sediment bowl does SOME good.
While you are looking for a filter, you could make a fine screen to catch the medium size pieces. The sediment bowl catches the big pieces, the screen catches the medium pieces and the filter catches the small pieces.

The Filter does not affect the Pump working, it merely protects it's one way valves and other parts from debris.
It you install a Fuel Filter ahead of the Pump, you will accomplish the same thing.StudeRich

That one would fit the Champion 6 Fuel Pumps, but the V8's have a very short Bowl both the late type with the Paper Element in the Metal Bowl and the Early type with the Ceramic one in the Glass Bowl.StudeRich
