  • Brakes: Need a power brake bleeder for cheap ?????

    Hi All,
Having swapped out all the drum brakes on my 50 starlight for discs all round was having one hell of a game trying to get the air out the system, all to no avail.
Power bleeder was needed I said to myself !!
So set about knocking up one
Whilst shopping in Walmart I came across this little gem for under $7
And in the motoring aisle a 5 piece quick connect airline coupling set for $5 odd
So that evening I spent putting it together.
    Here`s the results in pictures
The only downside in my case is the cost of filling it with Dot 5 !!!!!!

I think you left out a little detail here.
So you drilled an old Master Cylinder Cap and had the correct Fitting thread Tap for an Air Line to thread it?

A Pressurized Insecticide Sprayer, that should work for CASO's.

Rich, it should have been just a pipe thread (NPT) tap......I take it that you don't have a collection of small pipe thread taps and dies? They come in very handy - not something g I use every day of course, but at least every couple of months.

      Nice job fiveftsix!

Another solution for this is finding a used electric breast pump.

In my case I didn`t need too !!!
It just so happens that old wartime jeeps use the same style master cylinders ,caps too as the Studebaker.
Whilst looking for a spare cap to drill and tap I found one already done in my jeep parts stash.
It also looks to be done from factory too as there is no landing on the underside for where the baffle would normally be on the underside of the cap.
But even if one had to buy a drill and a tap it`s still a very cheap way of coming up with an occasional use pressure bleeder.
          Caso or otherwise.
