I am a bit younger, in the Studebaker world anyway, and did not know of Jim. But by the looks and sounds of it, it seems like he was a man of some amazing accomplishments to say the least. A very impressive Studebaker legacy. And it sounds like he was a very nice guy as well. RIP. Far too many of the Studebaker greats passing away lately.

Jim Lange was renowned for his incredible accomplishments behind the wheel of his 1963 Studebaker Avanti, spanning a career of over three decades in racing.

This is very sad news. Jim had a full and eventful life, filled with dear friends and associates. The Studebaker world is poorer for is absence. RIP Jim.

I was honored to meet Jim a few times at Bonneville. Here's an action shot of him at Speed Week 2009. It's early in the morning at the Impound lot. He's getting his car ready for a return run. That's our '53 in the background.
