  • Wild Bill Lenox, 83. Oxnard, CA.

Bill spent most of his life on the home place in Oxnard and growing Limas was his craft.

He spent a couple years in the Army & later the Peace Corp too.

A car nut all his life, Studes were the game for many years, he spent some time involved in the CA Studebaker club scene where he knew Stone, Reynolds & Myers from their time in SoCal.

I think his first Stude was an Avanti, one of the very last produced & he suffered life long back issues from a wreak when the master cylinder failed, totaling the car. His second Avanti was purchased in '74 & driven until around '84 when it was disassembled for a restoration. This is “Bill's R2” which I own today. This '64 towed his ski boat for a number of years!

    Other favorites were a Honda S600, A 62 Wildcat, and a Hudson Hollywood with a Packard 352.

I learned how to drive stick on Uncle Bill's 62 Hawk GT. His interest in all things South Bend may have stemmed from his Grandfathers red Express Coupe that was traded after the war for one of the first TVs in the area.

The last couple of years were spent with back & heart related troubles and I am told is heart finally gave up late on the Feb 4th. I have been dreading this day & he will leave a void.

    God's Speed!
'64 R2 back on da road again
