  • Maryanne Harbit has passed

I am sorry to post this kind of news this way...........
Want everyone to keep Ted Harbit in your thoughts and prayers.
Ted and his family are going through a tough time right now.
Last week Ted suffered a blood clot and wound up losing his right leg at the knee.
Then, this morning, his wife Maryanne passed away unexpectedly.
Ted is resting comfortably and will have a long road to recovery. His daughter Missy asks that we give him space to recuperate. I will post updates and memorial information.

Sad news indeed. She and Ted both lived legendary lives. Get well soon, Ted.

I will say that her obituary page is one of the most beautifully designed pages I have ever seen.

My favorite Mary Ann story happened at the SDC Int'l Meet in Charlotte back in 2004..
The meet was great. We were all having a good time. It was decided that all the durned hot rodders were going to the drag strip up in China Grove on Thursday. Since none of us knew where the track was, we all dutifully followed Ted and Mary Ann in a long Stude convoy. There must have been 30 or 40 excited people in that line. We exited the interstate and ALL went into a fast food place (Wendy's iirc). It was Studechaos. But, it all worked out. At the track, I chatted with Ted as he was unloading the Chicken Hawk and asked him about the burger place incident. Ted's answer was epic.. He just smiled and said "When Mary Ann wants to eat... We eat". T'was a fun day! RIP Mary Ann..

We spend a lifetime on this earth, whether long or short, learning how to be decent people. Mary Ann and Ted figured it out early. Rest in peace Mary Ann. Get well soon Ted.
