  • Frank Drumheller

It is with sadness that I have learned of the passing of Frank Drumheller last night about 10pm. Frank was a long time antique car buff, starting with the purchase of a 1929 Marquette over 60 years ago. He then migrated to the Kaiser-Frazer marquee. He discovered Studebakers in the early 1970’s and was a fan thereafter.

many will recall Frank and his parts partner Gerald Hiter from their many visits to the York Swap Meet and International Meets. Frank was also active on the Studebaker Truck Talk site and kept registers of Scotsman, 4 wheel drive and diesel trucks. At the time of his death he had a ‘60 Lark and ‘48 M16 Boyer fire engine. I will post arrangement once I have them.

Frank was a key member of the Greater Virginia Chapter until he could no longer get to our meetings. He was a giver and a great guy. He will be missed by all in the GVC. May he rest in peace.

Frank was one of those people who always gave more than he got. He had a great wealth of knowledge about Studebakers in general and Studebaker trucks in particular, and generously shared that info with others. In particular, he would always respond with a treasure trove of data to anyone posting a question about Stude trucks. He helped organize the Stude Truck Farmers group and always attended its informal meetings. I treasure my many interactions with him, and still refer to the pile of rare Stude truck material he bequeathed to me. RIP good friend.

            Dwight,

I attempted to e-mail you (and Jim Jett of the Central Virginia Chapter) yesterday but the e-mail address I had for you bounced back. I did ask Gerald to call Chester Bradfield to let him know, someone who has contact info for Nelson Driver should notify him as well.

              Gary,

Chester should have gotten the Truck Farmer email by now announcing Frank's passing.

                Jim,

I asked Gerald Hiter to contact Chester yesterday morning after he called me as he had more information than I did. Hopefully he was able to do so,

Very sorry to hear that Frank has passed he was a fine gentleman and Studebaker fan. Frank purchased what had been my 1960 Lark Regal from the person who bought it from me. I was always happy to see the car with Frank. I was very fortunate to be able to acquire some of his extensive Studebaker literature collection. I will miss him. Attached is a pic of Frank with his (formerly my) 1960 Lark VI .

I am very sorry to hear of this as well.

Frank and I got into some serious truck discussion over the years since I acquired my first diesel Studebaker, and I later had the opportunity to assist him with information I had on a Scotsman pickup he was seeking. RIP Frank.
