Ted Vernon was talking bout a GT Hawk in a deal saying the motor was a 289 just like the ones they put in the early model Mustangs; Well at least a Studebaker got some air play. cheers jimmijim

I wonder if he was just making a comparison in the size/displacement of the two motors?
I did not see the program so I don't know how he couched his remark.

I saw it and he definitely said the Stude 289 was the same as the one used in a Mustang. Pretty stupid guy. You would think he would know that Ford didn't use aStudebaker 289.

Meaning, of course - there is only UNreality TV.

The whole show is lame except for the cars and he does have a pretty wife who has had too much plastic surgery.

Ted Vernon is by self admission a SALESMAN and an asset (cars in this case) manager. He states he doesn't know a whole lot about cars. We (that includes me) as car people think he should have more knowledge that he does - but he doesn't. He was actually a boxer and an actor/producer. An IMBD check showed he made two low budget movies recently and also had a previous acting past. And for those who can't get enough flowing blonde hair, it seems his wife is in the movies too.

I actually personally emailed Ted Vernon and called the inaccuracy of his statements to his attention. He denied saying the Studebaker 289 was the same engine as the Mustang, however, I also heard what he said on air. I also questioned him about the mish-mash of parts ?63 Avanti which he has for sale. He did state that he was not a car expert, but basically a flipper. Guess whatever he is, he seems to have been successful enough to amass a really interesting number of automobiles. Guess we really can't expect him, with his background, to know more. This is unfortunate, because with the amount of mis-information out already, and with his high profile exposure, he could add some accurate information if he chose to make knowing his facts on the cars he sells a priority. I also suggested this to him in my email. He was not at all receptive and I guess with his money and success he certainly does not need to do so.

I give up. Why was this topic moved to Stove-Huggers? 'Seems to be primarily Studebaker content.

Without the show's incorrect reference to Studebaker vs. Ford 289 engines, the topic wouldn't be here. BP

                      The show is watchable.

Why anyone would expect a car salesman to know things about cars anyhow?

He also might be crazy like a fox. Telling potential buyers the motor is a Ford 289 might ease some minds about getting parts and service for a brand out of business since '64.

He may not know a Stude from a ford but his wife has an impressive intake manifold.
