  • Transatlantic Loadstar

There have previously been posts here about the fact that Humber had used the Hawk model name before Studebaker began using it in 1956.

Here's another one. International began using the Loadstar name in 1962, but the name was also used by Austin beginning in 1950. Like the International, it was a medium duty truck.

You think the designer for that one maybe had a look or two at a Studebaker M-16?

By the way, there is one of those Austin trucks sitting on a ranch along Highway 95 in B.C., on the way from Yahk to the Eastport border crossing.

There is a beautifully restored one here in Langley which has been in the family since new. Loomis Armoured Car had a fleet of them up to about 1970, as did Crone Moving. Another company had a couple in use until about 1990.
