  • Deep-N-Hock Follies - Accidental Yard Art

Ok... Truth be known... I was doing some yard work. Spring clean up stuff.
Driving the Kubota tractor with wild abandon. Headphones blaring with Radar Love..
Crunch.. Took out my mailbox with the attachment trailer I was tugging around.
Hooked the mailbox, ripping it off the board that was holding it onto the post.
Well, duhh Jeff.. What to do? What to do?

Several years ago at the MCACN show, there was a guy there selling these laser/plasma cus car signs.
I bought one that had a Golden Hawk cut out and it had a circular headband on it that said "Classic Car".
Hmmmm. Idea! Took the mailbox in and straightened it out. That turned out OK.
Took the rusty old box topper off by drilling out the pop rivets.
Cut the Golden Hawk off the 'hoop'. Cut off and welded up the fender top turn signals and reprofiled the rear fin a tad.
Made up and welded on new pop rivet mounts and pop riveted the new (Now a '59 Silver Hawk) sign onto the mailbox.
Painted the whole shebang with some snooty high profile Lowe's rattle can black spray paint.
Turned out pretty decent. Maybe it will get powder-coated red someday.
    Jeff

Golden Earing turned up loud and all you had to fix was the mailbox.......................nice! Trust me, it could have been worse.
