Ice breakers went through the Soo Locks and to the port of Duluth last week to begin the shipping season. The Arthur M Anderson often brings in limestone and hauls away taconite pellets from Duluth. If you are not familiar with the Arthur M Anderson, it was the last ship to make contact with the Edmund Fitzgerald before it sank in November 1975. More info here: SS Arthur M. Anderson - Wikipedia

I've posted Dan Hall's rendition before but sailors like those folks on the Anderson deserve credit for what they did.
Thanks for the post, Bob

Brent,
Thanks for posting. It is most interesting, particularly how long it is and how fast it travels.

I've been searching for video of the Arthur M Anderson porting in Gary, Indiana but have been unsuccessful. Perhaps there are no public-accessible internet-connected cameras in the Gary, Indiana harbor?
Shown below is a satellite map of the Gary, Indiana U.S. Steel mill with an approximate 1000 foot-long ship in dock that I assume is unloading ore.
