The 'Low-Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act of 2015' is still awaiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to finalize rules/laws that would permit companies to manufacture up to 5000 automobiles (500 for the U.S. and 4500 more for the rest of the world) that are of a 25-year-old design or older (like the proposed replica DeLorean DMC-12) without the need to meet safety & crash standards like that of high-volume automobiles.
If it is ever finalized, perhaps someone will reproduce the 1953-54 Studebaker Starlight or Starliner.
A unique advantage to reproducing the 1953-54 Studebaker is that with a few additional body parts, it could easily be converted into a 1955 Speedster or a 1956-61 Hawk. A new 1956 Golden Hawk might be nice!

Looking back to 2010 they were thinking of 120 to 140 Large for the vehicle. Certainly won't appeal to the Scotsman crowd. Probably will remain a dream. To get capital for such a small venture is beyond most people unless you are Bill Gates or Elon Musk. I doubt either one of them would even know or care about the Studebaker nameplate.

If Studebaker had remained in continuous business, my take is it would now be a "brand" of a larger corporate entity. The vehicles would not be all that different from any other ones available today. Various safety rules, fuel economy standards, and economics pretty much cause all designs to look similar. Maybe they would have put out a "retro" styled car based off a '53 or Avanti in the past 20yrs like was done with Mustangs/PT Cruiser/Challenger/HHR/Beatle/mini-cooper/ etc.

Yes Jeff, sadly enough that's the truth, I just went on in my own silly "if I could be the one to decide" world...
Thou there's so much (style/fashion) that could be "old" together with modern solutions such as glued windows & so on.
(& I don't think this is stove hugging)

I thought Ted Bastien had some good ideas when he was drawing Bugsport.

A 2021 Studebaker would probably have hand sanitizer holders, and hooks for your face mask.

MAYBE........they would stick with the “Common Sense Car” idea and continuously improve the 1966 car. Keeping the design with modifications such as curved window glass, refined mechanicals and adding in safety and technical advances along the way. Improvements in seat design, upholstery upgrades and sufficient undercoating and sound insulation. Finally redesigning the rust traps and ironing out the rough edges. •••••. Basically, improving and refining the design so that it is on the Mercedes level.
