I guess if I looked like Sean Connery did in 1962 and drove an Aston Martin DB5 it would be a no brainer, but being zero for two takes the subject from the look to the feel. I never played golf and was too old to have ever used batting gloves, but I understand the concept. Hot sweaty hands on a thin Studebaker wheel seems reasonable, but then I don't like hot sweaty hands, and driving gloves and hot summer weather a recipe for same.

I do own several Jaguars (or as we pretentious owners just say "the Jag"). Pretense fades quickly when you're seventy six years old, you're wearing a tea shirt and jeans and driving gloves. A picture more appropriate for the comics then the society page. I have to admit that driving gloves on a slick Nardi wheel, in cold weather, just feels right. So Jake for me it all depends. Maybe yes, maybe no, but never always.

Do they seem pretentious to you?
Can't picture them. Does Sears sell them? They're my go-to glove store.

I usually get mine at a tractor supply place.

I like to wear driving gloves when the weather is cool. They are thinner and meant to improve grip on a plastic or wood steering wheel. When the weather gets really cold I switch to heavier insulated gloves. On really hot days the driving gloves are employed if the steering wheel has gotten too hot to touch. I take the gloves off when the wheel cools down.

When I was younger and really into sports cars, I drove with a pair of thin leather gloves most of the time. Nowadays I don't even own a pair driving gloves let alone use them.

I've only used them when I had a race car.

Goatskin are very soft. I wear them when cold until car warms or if steering wheel is black and the summer sun melts your skin.

Only when temps are in the 30's here which is almost never.
