  • Sign Language and Hurricanes....

Okay - we've all seen them, especially of late. Some gubmint noodlehead or TV network dimwit is reading off the same press release from the hurricane center word for word - every hour on the hour. BUT - there are new "interpreters" every time standing off to the side making the dumbest expressions with their rubber faces, and flailing away with their arms and hands (sometime even shoulders) in ways that defy comprehension.

Whatever happened to using American Sign Language? I know what it looks like, I have family members who do it every Sunday at church - and what they do looks comprehensible and not alarmist at all. These various goofballs I see on the tube appear to be having conniptions or doing interpretive dance. NONE of them look alike (remember the words are THE SAME every time). Anyone else wondering what the heck happened?

Nope. But the best people to ask would be the hearing impaired.
