  • Quarter-Million Dollar AMC Matador Coupe!

    Well, it is rare!

If you want this "Holy Grail" 1974 AMC Matador Brougham Coupe right now, you can just hit the buy-it-now button on the eBay listing, pay your $250,000, and fly to Lebanon, Missouri and drive this beauty home! Otherwise, you can take your chances bidding with the other cheapskates and hope that some retired investment banker doesn't...

Love these Matadors! They made such great looking NASCAR race cars.

I would also ask for photos of the other 99 Matador Coupes he must be including in the deal.

I remember in 1974 when the Matador coupe came out that it was pointed out by an automotive writer that the last time a car came out with the bumper being exposed without a bumper pan was the 1950 Studebaker.

I always loved the swoopy character line on the side of that madator. It came from the AMX 3 show car which was mid engined.

Dang it! How to add a picture now?

Ah yes, the AMX show cars. These put the Pantera and other fancy Italian cars to shame!

I'm sure all the other guys with their $5,000-$10,000, nice looking Matadors will be jealous.

Thanks! they look great from the side and rear but not so much from the front.

I reckon the horn-button is just being gold-plated to make up for the price...
To bad they never got the wheels out enough for the widenes on these.

I'm got stomach craps from laughing. Offer this dude 8 cents on the dollar and you'll own it.

IIRC, I sold my running/usable Gremlin for $250, or less.

I still have (22 years now) my '63 AMC American with the rare, one year only Hardtop. And, I do the 250K Matador one better than the factory installed AM radio..., I have the "race ready" radio delete plate! I guess I'm a long term AMC investor who might be on the cusp of reaping my patiently waited reward. LOL

TRACO Engineering did a lot to make the AMC Engine raceable.
