  • Gran Torino? No, Gran Turismo! (more pics)

My name is Brent and today (10-7-09) I did a photoshoot of my 1963 GT Hawk amongst the trees in my woods near Milaca, MN. I purchased this car through Ebay during the last week of June in 2008 from a used car dealer near Detroit Lakes, MN (sorry, no South Bend Lakes in MN).
Since then, I have had the interior reupholstered, I rebuilt the door panels, fabricated kick panels, replaced carpet, replaced the dash woodgrain, installed dash pad, refabricated front floors, rebuilt rear of trunk lid and applied a custom made decal, had the bumpers rechromed, installed new grille insert, had wheel trim refurbished, installed new water pump, painted valve covers John Deere yellow after replacing valve stem seals, installed new fuel pump, installed new carburetor kit as well as other minor things. Sadly, I'm not even halfway from finishing it! Someday.....

This image shows the mylar decal that I had my uncle make, as he has a sign making business. I had him duplicate the bottom portion of the existing aluminum decklid panel. I found this tricky to apply as it is actually two decals, the chrome mylar base decal and then a black vinyl decal on top of that. He gave me two extra sets in case I screwed it up, but the first attempt came out okay. [8D]

Pictures taken 11-18-09, last day for driving the Hawk before storage.
    GT Hawk meets GT Rock

Gosh, you find Studebakers in the strangest places....my parent's gravel pit with a gravel crusher that he recently hired to make modified class 5 gravel.

Some people park their Studebakers right in the way....

    Uhh, this isn't the highway....

At least I found a wayside rest area.

Thanks for the positive replies fellas. I may replace the photos in a couple of weeks if I snap some new pics in a new location.

Great looking Hawk! I'd be curious to see the "custom made decal" on the deck lid you did in further pictures. You have a really sharp looking car there Brent!
