I just bought a non-running 1963 Avanti from an elderly gentleman who has restored a few in his time. It has a 1975 frame from an Avanti II and 400cid sbc. It needs a fuel tank, lots of wiring and a lot of trim bits. I’m looking forward to getting it running!

Thanks for posting Tim. Back in the mid-'80s to mid- or late-'90s there was a gentleman in our North Carolina SDC (Jerry Grondy) who had a very similar Avanti..........an Avanti II frame and drivetrain with a Studebaker Avanti body on it. That car was white also, but if I remember correctly it had the smaller Studebaker front wheel openings. Looks like yours may have the larger Avanti II openings, but hard for me to tell for sure (I am not an Avanti expert!
).

Thanks, Paul, you taught me something already early in my Avanti ownership journey! I did not know the II’s had different sized fender openings. My car was originally black according to my research; I wonder if body and frame have each been changed over the life of the car. The PO had the car for 20 years, the previous owner to him had the car 16 years which still leaves another 25+ years of mystery ownership! The original registration points to the car’s construction date of December 24, 1962…
