  • New to me: 1959 Lark VI

Picked this up at the beginning of November. It's had a repaint and a set of wheels swapped on it at some time in the past. The rest of it is factory. Needs some interior work. Trying to get it running at the moment. There's an engine swap in it's future (not a Chevy small block). I also want to get a set of AR daisy wheels to replace the current ones if you know of any available. I would also like either some Lark Cruiser seats or Hawk GT seats to replace the bench currently in it. I'm looking forward to having a ton of fun with this car. I'm pretty stoked to have been able to find one in such good shape in my price range. The only rust that I can see is along the bottom of the doors. The rest of it is super clean.

Nice looking car Tom! Is it a manual or automatic transmission?

My insurance agent is asking me whether it is a Deluxe, Econ-o-miler, or Regal. How would I tell? I'm sure it's not a Deluxe, as it's a six, but I don't know how to tell the other sub-models apart, and I don't know where to look on the car for identification.

Wait, I did some digging and was able to answer my own question. Looks like the Deluxe was the only model to be offered for the 2dr six cylinder.

Well you can be sure it is NOT a Econ-O-Miler, because Taxis did Not come in 2 Doors !
Also 2 Door Sedans as you found, did not come in the Top Trim Regal either, but that is just SO silly, when New $30.00 worth of fancier Trim after 63 Years, does not do ANYTHING for it's Value, With or Without !

A More important question would be: does it have Seatbelts !

StudeRich, I can't imagine how $30 of options hasn't increased the value of the Regal tenfold! Also, you apparently have not seen my "What do I do about a lack of seatbelts" post!

Not really directed to you, just the out of touch Insurance Co. questions.

The Replacement value of the Car is going to be determined by the CONDITION and amount of Damage. The Trim Level, will have little to do with it's Value, just the Year Model.

Yes, StudeRich, I was surprised they asked about the trim level. They're also taking forever to get me a quote. They handle my regular car just fine, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't go to Hagerty or someone who does classic/antique insurance for this one. It shouldn't take three weeks to get a quote on a pretty run of the mill old car like a Lark.

I highly recommend Hagerty! You'll get better coverage, lower rates and same call quote. I've used them for many years.

Go with an antique car insurance company. Another good one is JC Taylor. They'll probably give you a quote over the phone.

I did end up going with Hagerty, Silver Hawk 59. I was able to do it all online without even making a call, paid and everything. Very convenient.
