Recently snatched this bad boy for a steal at $700. It runs and even has a title. I’m currently waiting on the shop manual before I tear into it and get the clutch+brakes rebuilt. I’m hoping I can figure out a way to delete the hydrovac.Click image for larger version

I believe that to work out somewhere less than .50 cents per pound factoring the GVW near 16,000lbs. You stole it!
Congratulations. I own a 1945 US6 and can attest to their brutal weight made up by incredibly stiff gearing. Is yours a two speed rear axle?
            Cheers,

Congratulations. Good buy. Another thing you would find useful is the 1949-56 Truck parts book (brown/tan cover). Your truck shares many/most parts with other 2R-series and later trucks, and the parts book would tell you which ones. It's very well illustrated and in some cases is more useful than the shop manual. And you'll find that most Stude vendors stock/buy/sell their parts by original Studebaker part number, so the parts book is a big help there, too. Reprints are available on CD and paper from many of our vendors, and originals come up on ebay all the time. Studebaker truck parts book -fits in eBay Motors for sale | eBay
