    WELL, Hell's Bells!
Up bright and early....cleaned up the Avanti in preparation for the Karel Staple's Sacramento Valley Chapter's SDC International Drive Your Studebaker Day cruise to Arbuckle CA. Left Stockton 30 minutes sooner than neccessary to allow for plenty of time only to spend an hour + sitting in what had become a parking lot on Interstate 5.....for some reason the highway was completely shut down at Sutterville Road with all traffic being diverted off on to the side streets. Fortunately I was able to get off the freeway an exit or two ahead of the shutdown but it was too late to join the club....
Oh well, at least I wasn't involved in the accident (I have since learned: Fatal truck/car collision so full CHP investigation. Driver died in the burning car.), and the Avanti is all cleaned up! Next year....if I'm still above ground!

I got up late so no "cars & coffee" here at this late in the day. I did bring out one of the 62 Champs, the ex-Cal-Trans truck (259 auto) driving to Safeway for $20.00 gas, over to the rental place for this months copy of Roddin Arizona & back home. then got out the 64 Daytona hardtop I trailered down from Orem, Utah. Hit a couple of garage sales & back home. The 64 ran great but even though it was just 80 degrees here temp showed it slowly creeping up to where the aux fans kicked in, but even then it still climbed slowly. At least I did my part for showing.

I got diverted and delayed in a random highway detour last weekend in Sacramento. Some unforeseen road construction closure. I definitely can feel for you on that.

My Champ is still motor and trans-less, so no driving again this year sadly. But I'm about ready to head out in the garage and make more progress on the motor. So really hoping for next year it being back on the road again. Looking somewhat promising at the moment. Current goal is to get it done by end of the year, we'll see.

ID:	2069677 Took the family to a local Ford dealer's Cars and Coffee this morning. Even had face painting and balloons for the kiddos. Only Stude there like usual but got a lot of attention with the Paxton under the hood 😉

Lou, sorry we missed you. We were lucky and on the other side of the accident. Here is a photo taken in Arbuckle, California in front of the location of the longest operating Studebaker dealer.

We took the '57 Transtar to look at some property we're considering buying. We went bumping through forest paths and old cornfields with 3 in the cab and 2 in the box. Great fun, and many waved and gave thumbs up on the way there and back.

In preparation for driving the '53 to the International meet I've been driving it daily for the past week.
On IDYSD all I did was drive it to the Post Office; but that DOES count, right?!

Best I can do is report on my ISYSD (International start your Studebaker day) I went out during halftime of the Nebraska - Houston Christian game, Started my Lark hardtop, let it warm to operating temperature, ran the blower through it's two speeds, flashed the lights then shut off the my Lark until next weekend.

The Picture in Arbuckle makes me wonder just where THIS building is ?
Possibly that was the original location of the Dealership from back in the early 1900's, maybe more "In Town" ?

The reason I say that is because I was there in 1979 and met the owner, and at THAT time it was just a small parts Store and International Harvester/Studebaker Garage right next to the Interstate 5 in a gulch where you could see it from the freeway.

I bought a NOS 1685777 Aluminum Cam Gear from him, and a few other NOS goodies. He gave me a 100 year anniversary Coffee Mug.

The building is located on the main street thru Arbuckle, 5th St. Stanley Atran's youngest daughter, Francee, met us and shared a lot of history about her dad.
