  • Question on patch for rear quarter panels 53-55

I have a 53 coupe that has rusted bottoms of rear quarters. I can get 55 hawk coupe rear fenders. Will the bottoms of them work for the 53 as a patch?

Yes they are the same. Why not just use the '55 quarters, they bolt on.

Either that, or you can get new ones from Goodmark industries. Or the whole fender can be changed from the 55 donor car. (no Hawks until 56 btw). The fenders just bolt on, unless someone has welded them on.

Still new to the Studebaker and Hawks. I was going off what he said about hawk. I can get the complete rear fenders. If just bolt on that would work. They are local. Will the fronts works as well? He may part with those.

They are very reasonable in price.

Front fenders are the same, although you'll probably have to fill a few holes at the lower front edge which are drilled for the large '55 L&R parking lamp housings....Inner fender skirts should also be the same '53-'55 C/K.

In addition to what Ed said, the inner portion of the 55 air deflector is a bit more bulky than 53,54 and would need a bit of work - fairly easy to do.

Another question. Will 57 coupe fenders work on 53 coupe? I only need the bottoms for patch panels.

If this will help answer your questions, My Black 57 is wearing a 62 left front fender, and my white 63 has 54 left rear fender. I had to weld up some holes in the 62, and reshape the top rear of the 54. Just took a hammer and punch, then tap,tap,tap....

                  fenders

The rear fenders should fit fine. They can be repaired but if you are not a bodyman I would just replace as they are a lot of work. As you can see in the pictures it can be done.

Nice work. If you run out of projects I have some 52 stuff that needs attention.
